For AlumniPastew Place opened in 1979, a year before Fort McMurray was declared a city. Originally, we had 10 beds and were strictly a detox centre. Today, we have 16 beds and have incorporated other support programs into our organization. We are generously funded by Alberta Health Services and the United Way.In 2011, Pastew Place had over 650 admissions. This included over 500 men, and just over 150 women. Our busiest month was June, when we had 92 admissions.The average length of stay is 5 to 7 days. The amount of time a client spends here depends on their withdrawal symptoms.
