Thomas Zitnansky is not your usual wedding photographer. He has no formal training, but rather is completely self-taught and driven by personal passion for the art. Formerly a successful music producer, he decided to switch careers after spending a day in the studio with a famous hip-hop artist in New York.
“I always had a camera with me when I was producing music,” Thomas says. “Taking pictures for behind-the-scenes stuff. And one day in Manhattan, I snapped some shots of mastering engineer Tony Dawsey. He loved the photos and I got an offer from his team to buy them. It was then I realized I wanted to be a photographer.”
Thomas’s experience in the music industry influences his photographic work, as he believes they share some common elements. “In music, you try to evoke an emotion,” he says. “With photography, when you capture a moment, you are also capturing the emotion of the subject for the audience.”
