The Bean Bar is a really good low key restaurant in the Westdale neighbourhood. They provide an extensive menu with a wide variety to choose from at a reasonable price. The food is fantastic and comes in portions that are not overwhelming where you can't finish it - just perfect. I brought my parents here to see what it was like and it exceeded their expectations. I had the ham and maple cranberry wrap and it was terrific. Definitely hit the spot. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxed and mellow which is nice to have conversation. It's a good place for lunch or an early supper. The staff is super friendly so the service is great. If you're ever in Westdale, it's definitely worth checking out. Read more

I go here fairly regularly because this place does it up right. It's not a huge place and gets packed fairly easily, so there have been times when I simply haven't gotten in, but you snooze you lose. It is in an old victorian style home, taking up both floors. Downstairs seats a few tables and the main bar, while upstairs hosts a more casual atmosphere of games, chairs, etc....like you are in someones home. Decor is eclectic and funky, provides a nice touch to the visit. Service is always good to above average, the staff are trained well, know their beers well enough, and are always smiling. I've eaten here too many times to mention, but the wings are great, as is the cajun catfish sandwich. The wings are a great portion and the sauces are excellent. The catfish sandwich is spicy,savoury, very flavourful, well portioned, and well priced. I like that they have Boneshaker on tap on a regular basis. In fact, they only serve craft beer which speaks to the quality of the establishment. Clientele is a mix of somewhat obnoxious college hipsters and hippies that think they are re-living Woodstock for some reason, but I don't have to like them to like the place. Keep up the great work! I attended Montana's Cookhouse with my Brother and Girlfriend last week and expected good quality food and service. I expected it because Montanas Cookhouse i widely recognized and I have also attended it before and loved it. I suggest coming here for a dinner or lunch because you receive great food for a low cost. I ordered chicken penne which was 15$ and a coke for 3$, so for under 20$ I received an excellent meal and fast service. The environment is loud and upbeat giving you a fun experience. Read more

What a nice little spot! The food is well prepared and everything on the menu looks appetizing. They have a different fish special every day and it is always very good. I find their Pad Thai really great and can never resist ordering it. The mango salad and fresh rolls are nice light starters. Most recently (Fall 2011) I shared the vegan eggplant dish and pad thai with my dining partner and found them both satisfactory but my dining partner found the eggplant too tender. I was hoping that the dishes would have been more authentic Chinese. The Sichuan chicken with mixed vegetables was not spicy at all, a total disappointment. Being Sichuan, I was hoping for a spicy, hot dish. It was pretty bland. When I mentioned this to the hostess, she said that we could have ordered it spicy.
